Established in 2004, The Center for Cities & Schools (CC&S) is an interdisciplinary research Center housed at the Institute of Urban and Regional Development (DCRP). The Center is also a collaborative effort between UC Berkeley's Graduate School of Education and the College of Environmental Design. The vision for CC&S was born out of more than twenty years of work related specifically to schools and public housing in the San Francisco Bay Area and across the nation and has today grown into a national policy research Center. The Academic Coordinator for National Y-PLAN will be focused almost exclusively on CC&S new national research initiative coordinating up to 10 local action research teams and data collection efforts the Y-PLAN educational strategy across the nation.
