Position description
CITRIS Health at the University of California, Berkeley explores technology innovations to improve health outcomes and access for all. The CITRIS Health initiative brings researchers, technologists and innovators together across campuses, industry and government sectors, and countries to share their best ideas and craft innovative solutions to society’s most pressing health problems, such as healthy aging and uneven, inequitable access to care. Information technology research has untapped potential to improve health and quality of life at both individual and population health levels. Through its projects and programs, CITRIS Health accelerates these changes by shortening the pipeline between world-class health technology and its translation into everyday practice. As more of these technology-based solutions are tested, deployed and scaled up, our society will see the results in improved and equitable health care outcomes, consistent quality of care and streamlined costs.
CITRIS Health is seeking to hire a Postdoctoral Researcher. The successful candidate will contribute to cutting-edge projects focused on digital health care, health tech innovation, the health care workforce, and the development, application and evaluation of innovative AI technologies in health settings.
Key Responsibilities:
• Participate in research and preparation of manuscripts for publication related to ongoing research human centered health AI and technology-enabled rural health transformation.
• Contribute to grant writing and development of research proposals.
• Conduct independent and applied research in at least one of the following:
• Digital health care adoption and engagement
• Clinical informatics or clinical-translational data science.
• Artificial intelligence in health or public health
• Technology-enabled health and healthcare system transformation
• Publish findings in high-impact peer-reviewed journals and present at conferences.
• Engage with national research collaborators and international colleagues in Europe and Asia.
• Participate in weekly team meetings, seminars, and other scholarly activities at CITRIS Health in UC Berkeley and UC Davis.

Qualifications
PhD or equivalent international degree, or enrolled in a PhD or equivalent international degree granting program.
• PhD (or equivalent international degree) required by the appointment start date.
• No more than three years of post-degree research experience.
• PhD in health informatics, computer science, public health, nursing, or a related research-intensive health field.
• Strong record of academic research, including peer-reviewed publications.
• Quantitative analysis skills including experience with machine learning, natural language processing, or AI methods applied to health data.
• Demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following areas: digital health, health AI, health informatics, health systems innovation, patient engagement with technology.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a collaborative, interdisciplinary research environment including statisticians, data scientists, clinicians, and regulatory experts.
