Position title: Lecturer
Salary range: The posted UC academic salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and/or step at appointment. A reasonable estimate for this position is $66,259–$100,224.
The starting compensation for teaching one course in the summer is $7,076.
Percent time: 44% to 50% per course, depending on teaching responsibilities.
Anticipated start: For Fall Semester: July 1, or August 1
For Spring Semester: January 1
For Summer Semester: June 20

Position description

The Department of Mathematics at the University of California invites applications for a pool of qualified non-tenure track lecturers to teach a range of mathematic courses.

Teaching Responsibilities: We are seeking outstanding lecturers capable of teaching one or more courses in the undergraduate mathematics curriculum. Courses will be assigned on an as-needed basis.

General duties: In addition to teaching responsibilities, general duties include holding office hours, assigning grades, advising students, preparing course materials (e.g., syllabus), maintaining a course website, and using a learning management system( e.g. bCourses at UC Berkeley, Canvas, etc.).

Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Applicants must have an advanced degree or be enrolled in an advanced degree program at the time of application.

Additional qualifications (required at time of start)

An advanced degree is required by the start date.

Preferred qualifications

PhD (or equivalent international degree) in Mathematics or related field, demonstrated excellence in teaching, and documented experience in teaching college level.
