Position description

The Department of Environmental Science, Policy, and Management (ESPM) in the Rausser College of Natural Resources (RCNR) at the University of California, Berkeley (UCB) invites applications for a one-year pool of qualified temporary lecturers to teach courses with a focus area of Environmental Science, Policy, and Management.

General Duties:
We are seeking lecturers who can teach/co-teach lecture, seminar, and/or laboratory courses in environmental science, policy, and management, both at the undergraduate and graduate levels. In addition to teaching responsibilities, general duties include holding office hours, assigning grades, advising students, preparing course materials (e.g., syllabus), and maintaining a course website.

UC Berkeley has a number of policies and programs to support employees as they balance work and family.

For those who are not US citizens or permanent residents, a legal permit that allows work in the United States (such as a US visa that allows employment) is required by the start date of the position. The department is unable to provide a visa/work permit.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
  • An Advanced degree, or enrolled in an advanced degree program at the time of application
Additional qualifications (required at time of start)
  • An Advanced degree is required by the start date of the position.
Preferred qualifications
  • The completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent international degree
  • Documented experience in teaching one of the biological sciences at the college level is strongly preferred.
