Description

The Department of City and Regional Planning at UC Berkeley invites applications for a pool of qualified, temporary, part-time lecturers to teach in the undergraduate Urban Studies and the Master of City Planning programs. Screening of applicants is ongoing. The number of available positions varies from semester to semester, depending upon the needs of the department. Lecturers are appointed at 33% time when teaching one course per semester, and at a reduced percentage when co-teaching. The department rarely appoints lecturers to teach two or more courses per semester. Appointments may be renewed based on need, funding, and performance.

General Duties: In addition to teaching responsibilities, general duties include preparing course materials (e.g., detailed weekly syllabus), maintaining a course website, holding office hours, assigning grades, and advising students.

Basic qualifications: Applicants must hold an advanced degree (minimally a Master’s degree or equivalent degree) and have work experience in the field of expertise at the time of application. Applicants must be able to legally work in the United States. The Department is unable to arrange visas/work permits for Lecturer positions.

Preferred Qualifications: Prior teaching experience.

Salary Range: Salary will be commensurate with degrees currently held, past college-level teaching experience, work experience and history, and equity within the department. Minimum annual full-time salary rate is $53,402.
