The Department of Architecture at UC Berkeley invites applications for a pool of qualified temporary, part-time instructors to teach courses in the following areas: History & Theory, Building Science, Structures, Construction, and Design & Social Factors should an opening arise. Screening of applicants is ongoing and will continue as needed. The number of positions varies from semester to semester, depending upon the needs of the Architecture department. Semester positions range from 11% to 67% and typically start at the beginning of the semester.
Salary is commensurate with experience. Appointments may be renewed based on need, funding, and performance.
General Duties: In addition to teaching responsibilities, general duties include holding office hours, assigning grades, advising students, preparing course materials (e.g., syllabus), and using Cal’s electronic resources for course management.
Basic Qualifications: Applicants must hold an advanced degree (minimally a Master’s degree or equivalent degree) in Architecture or related field at time of application, and be able to legally work in the United States. The Department is unable to arrange work permits for Lecturer positions.
