Recruitment for a Postdoctoral Employee within the Department of Astronomy at UC Berkeley:

The Department of Astronomy at UC Berkeley is seeking a highly motivated individual to carry out research on nearby dwarf galaxies using the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) in collaboration with Dr. Daniel Weisz. The successful applicant will work with multi-wavelength imaging of resolved stars in nearby dwarf galaxies as part of two new HST programs (GO-15275 and AR-15056). The primary goals of these programs are to characterize young stellar populations, reconstruct recent star formation histories, and measure the high-mass stellar initial mass function. The successful applicant will also have the opportunity to collaborate with ongoing efforts involving the Keck telescope, plan observations for the James Webb Space Telescope, and pursue an independent research program.
This position will report to Dr. Daniel Weisz.
Basic Qualifications (by time of application)
Candidates must already hold a PhD or be in the process of obtaining a PhD in astronomy, astrophysics, or a related field

Candidates must have obtained their PhD or equivalent degree in astronomy, astrophysics, or related field by the start date.
This will be a full-time appointment. The approximate start date for this position will be September 2018. The initial appointment is for one year with the possibility of an extension for an additional two years based on performance and the availability of funding.
Salary and Benefits
Salary will commensurate with qualifications and experience level and based on UC Berkeley salary scales. The annual salary range for this position is $48,216 to $60,000. Generous benefits are included: http://vspa.berkeley.edu/postdocs
