Position description

The Goldman School of Public Policy at the University of California, Berkeley, invites applications for a part time academic year Lecturer position affiliated with the Master of Public Affairs (MPA) professional graduate degree program.

The Goldman School of Public Policy is generating an applicant pool of qualified temporary instructors to teach graduate-level breadth courses should an opening arise. The pool will remain in place for six months; those interested in remaining in the pool beyond that time must reapply.

We are searching for instructors in the fields of: public policy; macroeconomics; international development; politics & political science; financial management of non-profit organizations; public sector budgeting; telecommunications policy; business negotiations & contracts; law & policy implementation; international relations; national & international trade policy; legislative advocacy; energy policy; policy of social movements; agriculture & food policy; water policy; performance management; communications.

Teaching Responsibilities: Primary duties include teaching graduate level courses, typically one course per semester.

General Duties: In addition to teaching, duties include holding office hours, assigning grades, preparing course materials, and advising and mentoring graduate students on independent research projects.

The minimum basic qualifications required to be considered an applicant for this position are: Ph.D., D.Phil, J.D. or equivalent degree required at the time of application; or at least 15 years in senior professional role.

Preferred Qualifications: The successful candidate should have demonstrated excellence in teaching in areas related to the social sciences. Degrees in Social Sciences or a related professional field strongly preferred.

This is a part time, academic year appointment, subject to the normal processes of academic review. The salary is commensurate with departmental norms. The salary range is $48,948-
$100,248 (full-time equivalent), with excellent employee benefits.
