Position description

The Department of English at the University of California, Berkeley seeks applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor faculty position in the area of Asian American and/or Transnational Asian Literatures and Cultures, with the expected start date of July 1, 2017. We welcome interdisciplinary methods as well as ethnically, geographically and/or linguistically comparative approaches. We are interested in candidates who will contribute to diversity and equal opportunity in higher education through their teaching, research, and service.

Basic qualifications: Applicants must have completed all Ph.D. (or equivalent) degree requirements except the dissertation by the time of application.

Additional qualifications: Since this is a 100% English appointment, we seek a candidate with a demonstrated ability to teach graduate and undergraduate courses that have a substantial component of Anglophone literature and/or literature in translation. Applicants must have a well-defined and original program of research, and present demonstrated excellence in classroom teaching.

The successful candidate must possess a Ph.D. (or equivalent) in English or a related field within one year of the appointment start date.
