Position description

This full-time position plays a central role in the department’s post-baccalaureate program and other continuing education extension programs. The Academic Coordinator will be responsible for the development and growth of the department’s new post‐baccalaureate program, a three-or four-semester program in which students complete an intensive classroom and laboratory program in preparation for PhD work in psychology. The Academic Coordinator will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the post-bac program. This will include playing a lead role in issues related to admissions, enrollment, mentoring and monitoring the progress of the post-bac students, and serving as the facilitator for on-going professional development workshops for these students. In addition, the Academic Coordinator will contribute to the Department’s standard curriculum, with the expectation that he/she will teach two undergraduate lecture classes during the academic year (spring and fall semesters). For these courses, the Department would seek a pre-6 Lecturer appointment that would run in conjunction with the Academic Coordinator Title. Both components of the appointment (Academic Coordinator/Lecturer) cannot exceed 100%. When assigned teaching responsibilities, the Academic Coordinator will hold a Lecturer appointment concurrently. The percentage of the Academic Coordinator position will be reduced to accommodate the lecturer position. Typical workload for courses will range from 33% - 50%. The lecturer appointment salary will be set in accordance with the salary setting practice of the College of Letters and Science. Minimum full‐time annual salary is $49,012. Salary is commensurate with college level teaching experience and education. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to): teaching one or more sections of courses; holding office hours; attending meetings, if any; preparing course materials, and assigning grades.
