Position description

The Department of Psychology is seeking an energetic and collaborative Associate Director of the Psychology Clinic and Center for Assessment, with an anticipated start date of October 15, 2015. The position is full-time and the incumbent will be appointed as an Assistant, Associate or Full Clinical Professor. The Psychology Clinic provides doctoral students in clinical psychology with the highest quality training in the integration of science and practice. The program has been accredited continuously by the American Psychological Association (APA) since 1948 and by the Psychological Clinical Science Accreditation System (PCSAS) since 2013.

CORE DUTIES:

  • Administration of an on-campus Psychology Clinic and Assessment Centre
  • Supervision of doctoral students
  • The development of strong contacts with the clinical community to (a) establish and sustain supervisory and training experiences for our doctoral students, (b) create referral networks based on the needs of our clinics and our students and (c) co-ordinate interactions with other sites (e.g., UCSF) and professions (e.g., psychiatry)
  • Collaborate with core faculty to develop vision and leadership for the direction of the clinic
  • Teach graduate level courses designed to introduce beginning graduate students to clinical psychological science, to provide professional development to students in the middle of their externship years, and to provide an integration of science and practice via the Clinical Science program’s “specialty clinic” model
  • Triage needs and make patient referrals to those individuals calling the Psychology Clinic
  • Train clinic staff and students in the clinic procedures
  • Contribute substantively to accreditation efforts
  • The position reports to the Director of Clinical Training and the core Clinical Science Faculty.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • The successful applicant must have completed all requirements, except for the dissertation, for a Ph.D. or equivalent, in Clinical Psychology, prior to applying.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • PhD or equivalent from an APA or PC-SAS accredited graduate program, including a completed internship, is required by the start date. Applicants should be prepared to provide proof of conferral of said degree by the date of hire.
  • Licensed or license-eligible in California

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proven interest in clinical science research and demonstrated commitment to the clinical science model
  • Demonstrated skills in supervision and training of graduate students
  • The ability to establish and maintain effective collaborative relationships with the community and with other offices on campus
  • Strong crisis management skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to work with a diverse range of faculty, staff and students in a collaborative environment

Salary range: $54,000 to $79,400
