Position description

The English Department at the University of California, Berkeley seeks applicants for an Assistant Professor or Associate Professor position specializing in Native American, Chicano/a, and/or Latino/a literature. The expected start date is July 1, 2015. We welcome all critical approaches. Basic qualifications: Applicants for an assistant professor position must have completed all Ph.D. (or equivalent) degree requirements except the dissertation by the time of application. Applicants for an associate professor position must possess a Ph.D. (or equivalent) at the time of application.

The successful candidate for an assistant professor appointment must possess a Ph.D. (or equivalent) in English or a related field by the time of employment.

Additional qualifications: We seek a research-oriented candidate with a demonstrated ability to teach graduate and undergraduate courses in Chicano/a, Latino/a, and/or Native American literature, as applicable. Applicants must have a well-defined, original program of ongoing research and present demonstrated excellence in classroom teaching.
