Position description

The Department of Political Science at the University of California, Berkeley, invites applications for a tenure-track or tenured position in Political Theory with an expected start date of July 1, 2015. Appointment may be at the level of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. The search is open with respect to research areas and approaches within political theory, though we are especially interested in scholars who work in the history of political thought. Applicants for the Assistant Professor position must have completed all degree requirements for Ph.D or equivalent degree with the exception of the dissertation at the time of application. Ph.D or equivalent degree must be completed within one year of start date. Applicants for the Associate or Full Professor position must have a completed Ph.D or equivalent degree at time of application. Applications must be submitted no later than October 10, 2014 to be eligible for consideration.

Junior candidates should submit at least one sample of significant written scholarship, a brief statement of current and future research, and arrange to have at least three letters of reference submitted via the web portal above.
