The Berkeley School of Education (BSE) at the University of California, Berkeley is generating an applicant pool of qualified temporary, part-time, non-tenure track, Field Program Supervisors (Coaches) to support practicing administrators and teacher leaders throughout the Bay Area. Coaching occurs mostly in-person and explicitly centers equity and anti-racism as key levers to leading liberatory schools.

What is UC Berkeley’s Leadership Programs?
The mission of the Leadership Programs is to develop and sustain a diverse community of equity and justice-focused teacher, school, and system leaders who transform public education, especially for marginalized and historically underserved students. We engage in applied synergistic investigations and the development of innovative practices around this common purpose. Our collective work is framed by three overarching questions:
-What does equity and justice-focused leadership look like in practice?
-How are equity and justice leaders effectively developed and sustained?
-How must educational systems be transformed to be more equitable and just?

Our programs include:
-Principal Leadership Institute (PLI)--Preparation: Joint MA and Preliminary Administrative Services Credential
-Leadership Support Program (LSP)-- Induction: Clear Administrative Services Credential
-Leaders for Equity and Democracy (LEAD)-- Ed.D. in Education
-21st Century California School Leadership Academy (21CSLA)--statewide initiative for leadership development and support to preK-12 public school leaders

What do Leadership Coaches do?
-Coach across multiple programs: PLI (preparation), LSP (induction), 21CSLA and contract coaching (professional learning)
-Provide 25-40 hours of coaching and support per year to each assigned coachee ((varies depending on the different programs listed above), utilizing the equity-centered coaching approach as well as other supportive frameworks when appropriate.
-Create strategic coaching plans based on a holistic review of data and coachees’ self-identified growth goals.
-Support coachees through observing their leadership activities/practice.
-Document coaching interactions effectively within required timelines.
-Serve as strategic planning and coaching partners to district contacts.
-Build a community of learners by participating in ongoing professional learning alongside other coaches and Leadership Programs staff, with a lens of continuous improvement.
-Engage in program support activities
