Position title: Assistant Professor of Law
Salary range: The posted UC academic salary scales (https://www.ucop.edu/academic-personnel-programs/compensation/2022-23-academic-salary-scales.html) set the minimum pay determined by rank and/or step at appointment. See the following table for the salary scale for this position https://www.ucop.edu/academic-personnel-programs/_files/2022-23/oct-2022-salary-scales/t8.pdf. The base salary range, from the salary table, for this position is $174,100–$264,400. ‘Off-scale salaries’ and other components of pay, which would yield compensation that is higher than the published system-wide salary at the designated rank and step, are offered when necessary to meet competitive conditions.

Position description

Berkeley Law invites applications from untenured candidates for full-time tenure-track faculty positions. We welcome applications from candidates across all areas of law, although subject areas of particular interest include Administrative Law, Business Law, Private Law, Employment and Labor Law, Environmental and Energy Law, Environmental Justice, Civil Procedure, Intellectual Property, Criminal Procedure and Law, Health Law, National Security Law, Race and Law, and Tax.

Berkeley Law is interested in candidates who have demonstrated a commitment to excellence by providing leadership in teaching, research and service toward building an equitable and diverse scholarly environment.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Candidates must either: a) hold a J.D. or equivalent international degree by date of application, or b) hold or have advanced to candidacy status for a Ph.D., or equivalent international degree, by date of application.

Additional qualifications (required at time of start)

Candidates who do not hold a J.D. degree, but who have advanced to candidacy status for a Ph.D. or equivalent international degree, must have the Ph.D. or equivalent international degree conferred by the start date.
