Position description

The Staller lab at the Center for Computational Biology at the University of California, Berkeley, is seeking a postdoctoral scholar to conduct research in the area of transcriptional regulation and systems biology.

The Postdoctoral Employee will join the research group of Dr. Max Staller with a focus on high throughput methods to study the sequence features of transcriptional activation domains that control function. The day-to-day duties for the position include design of targeted protein mutations, molecular biology to construct plasmid libraries, human tissue culture, preparation of Illumina sequencing libraries. We will provide training in the creation of state-of-the-art protein mutagenesis libraries. Day-to-day duties also include computer programming in R or python to analyze next-generation sequencing data.

Responsibilities include preparing figures, presenting findings at conferences, and drafting manuscripts. The first phase project includes investigation of potential disease causing mutations and investigation of different functional classes of transcriptional activation domains. There will be ample opportunity for the candidate to drive the direction of the project as it progresses.
