A Postdoctoral Scholar position is available in the Rijo-Ferreira lab in the Division of Infectious Diseases and Vaccinology. The Rijo-Ferreira Lab is a multidisciplinary research team at the University of California, Berkeley, Berkeley Public Health. The team seeks to uncover the circadian rhythms in parasitic diseases, in particular malaria and sleeping sickness, exploring the relationships between host, mosquito, and parasite across the day. We employ technical approaches spanning from next-generation sequencing, to cellular and behavioral assays to investigate the interactions of these parasites with their hosts.
Position Duties:
The candidate will utilize the mouse model, tissue culture, and malaria parasites as model systems to dissect the host-parasite interaction, focusing on circadian regulation of the host-parasite interaction modulating infection. The exact aims
of the research project will be tailored to the expertise of the applicant and to complement the overarching Rijo-Ferreira
lab research interests.

Qualifications
- Ph.D. (or equivalent international degree), or enrolled in a Ph.D. (or equivalent international degree) program
Ph. D. (or equivalent international degree)
No more than four years of post-degree research experience by start date
Ph.D. in Parasitology, Microbiology, Circadian rythms, or related field
Experience with cell culture and/or animal models of infection
Experience with parasitic diseases
Experience in bioinformatic analysis
