Position description

The Helen Wills Neuroscience Institute (HWNI) with the University of California, Berkeley, at ultrahigh field 7T MRI research, invites applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar position.

We seek a postdoctoral scientist to advance world-class research and research in MRI and brain science. The applicant’s main project will be to develop and apply new methods for ultra-high spatial resolution (mesoscale) fMRI to probe brain circuitry at the level of columns and layers. Applicants should be technically oriented and highly motivated with a desire to pioneer new areas of human neuroscience, with applications in DWI and structural imaging as well as mesoscale circuit delineation with laminar and columnar fMRI.

Applicants will have the opportunity to work with a highly unique and advanced 7T MRI system capable of ultra-high-resolution imaging with high signal to noise, and collaborate with an elite team of scientists across the globe. The NIH BRAIN Initiative funded projects have active collaborations with university scientists at University of California, Berkeley, University of California, San Francisco, and Harvard MGH.

Our advanced scanners' feature the latest in hardware including: a very high performance head gradient coil (200mT/m, 900T/m/s), 128 channel receiver system and high-density receiver arrays for very high SNR and imaging accelerations.
