Salary range: Salary will be commensurate with experience.
Percent time: 50%
Position duration: One year with the possibility of renewal.

Position description

The Center for Growth Markets (CGM) is a research center housed within the Institute for Business Innovation at the Haas School of Business. It focuses on researching growth and development challenges in fast-moving economies across the world. The Center provides intellectual leadership and creates actionable research and knowledge related to business and economic development in growth markets. CGM facilitates collaboration between UC Berkeley researchers and corporate partners, academic institutions, and policy makers. Duties of Position
• Implement business processes. Develops and maintains research gathering, retrieval and reporting systems.
• Develops and implements procedures to collect, evaluate, and manage data.
• Plans studies, including the design of survey instruments and determining the sampling and reporting procedures.
• In coordination with center faculty director, designs research studies.
• Collaborates on the design, documentation, testing and implementation of research studies.
• Develops systems for organizing data to analyze, identify and report trends.
• Gathers and analyzes research data; prepares and summarizes information and/or recommendations.
• Manages and coordinates activities with research partners, including high-level representatives of corporate, government, and nonprofit organizations.
• Researches funding opportunities and writes grant and contract applications for research funding.
• Manages and coordinates activities with internal research project stakeholders, including faculty, staff, and students.
• Writes or contributes to research reports, white papers, working papers, policy recommendations, and other research outputs.
• May be involved in researching, evaluating and selecting new data reporting products.
• Prepares reports and/or analysis for both internal department constituents and external stakeholders
• Reviews and summarizes relevant theoretical and empirical literature.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

The minimum qualifications to be an applicant are a Master’s degree or equivalent international degree completed at time of application.

Additional qualifications (required at time of start)

Master's degree or equivalent international degree plus 8 years of research or industry experience.

Preferred qualifications

We are interested in candidates who have demonstrated experience on complex research projects, as well as entrepreneurial ability to develop and support initiatives. Additionally, we are interested in candidates with the ability to self-motivate and work productively and independently in a research center environment.

•A Master’s degree in business, economics, or other social science or equivalent international degree completed at time of application.
• Experience conducting research in large, growth economies, particularly India.
• Expertise developing or researching new products or services.
• Experience with entrepreneurial ventures, whether in the private or public (government or NGO) sphere.
• Strong knowledge of and experience with research function.
• Strong skills in statistical analysis, system programming, database design and data security measures.
• Deep experience in analysis and consultation.
• Skills to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner both verbally and written.
• Ability to work independently to solve problems.
• Strong quantitative background.
• Working knowledge of current statistical software (eg Stata).
• Experience managing research projects from start to finish, including in an international context.
• Experience working with high-level partners and stakeholders, such as senior government, corporate, or nonprofit executives.
• Demonstrated entrepreneurial ability to generate projects and funding.
