Anticipated start: July 2021
Position duration: This is a one year position with the possibility of extension being subject to performance and budgetary approval.

Position description

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley welcomes applications for an Assistant Project Scientist to perform research in the life-cycle environmental impacts of building and wastewater systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Research the life-cycle environmental impacts of building and wastewater systems
  • Complex analysis of systems over time and with changing data
  • Perform literature review, and find and analyze relevant studies
  • Collect data on the environmental impacts of infrastructure systems
  • Analyze findings, document findings, make recommendations for lowering the environmental impacts
  • Analysis of data collected from multiple sources in order to solve multidisciplinary problems
  • Preparation of research results for publication and presentation of results at meetings

This position provides full Health & Welfare and Retirement Benefits. This position is covered by the UC-UAW collective bargaining agreement for Academic Researchers. Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

PhD or equivalent international degree at time of application

Preferred qualifications
  • PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering or related/relevant field
  • Demonstrated advanced skills in Life Cycle Assessment and understanding of building and wastewater systems
  • Demonstrated ability to write and publish studies related to buildings and wastewater systems
  • Prior postdoctoral preparation/experience
