Position description

The Department of Nutritional Sciences and Toxicology at the University of California, Berkeley seeks applications for an Postdoctoral Scholar with the Moore Lab, in the area of nuclear receptor regulation of liver metabolism and oncogenesis, at 100% time with an expected start date in early 2021.

The research in the Moore Lab centers on the role of nuclear receptors in the regulation of normal physiology and disease pathologies. The laboratory uses mouse models to study diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, particularly the liver and intestine. The selected candidate will carry out and manage studies on the control of liver metabolic and oncogenic pathways by nuclear receptors. This will include experimentation in mice and cell lines. The candidate will also maintain accurate records of experiments and results and prepare reports on results.

Basic Qualifications (At the time of application):
• PhD (or equivalent international degree) or enrolled in a PhD degree program (or equivalent international degree) at the time of application.

Additional Qualifications (By start date):
• PhD (or equivalent international degree). The candidate should have no more than four years of post-degree research experience by start date.

Preferred Qualifications (By start date):
• Experience in management and analysis of large-scale biological datasets
• Scientific writing experience as indicated by publications in peer-reviewed journals
• Experience working with mammalian models of physiology and disease

This position reports to Professor Moore. The initial appointment will be at 100% time for one year with the possibility of extension based on performance and availability of funding.

Salary and Benefits: Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and based on UC Berkeley Postdoc salary scale.
