Description:
This is a Junior/Assistant Specialist position in the Healy laboratory at the University of California, Berkeley. The lab’s work emphasizes the development of novel microphysiological systems (i.e., organs-on-a-chip or tissue chips).

Responsibilities:
The successful candidate is expected to conduct scientific research concerning the development of human induced pluripotent stem cell-based organ chip technology. Specific laboratory duties include, but are not limited to: device microfabrication, sensor technology development; general laboratory duties such as lab maintenance and EH&S reporting; and, assistance in the preparation of manuscripts for submission to scientific journals. The candidate will execute supervised research, including experimental design, data analysis, and draw scientific conclusions from their research. The candidate will directly report to Principal Investigator. The candidate is also expected to participate in collaborations with other laboratory members and other teams on the Berkeley and UCSF campuses.

Minimum/Basic Qualifications required at the time of application:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent international degree or enrolled in Bachelor’s degree or equivalent international degree program.

Additional Qualifications must be met by the start of the job:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent international degree.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Bioengineering, Materials Science, or related field.
  • Technical experience in microfabrication strongly preferred, specifically in soft lithography and replica molding.

Salary: This is a full-time position. Salary is commensurate with experience.
