Position description

The Coleman Fung Institute for Engineering Leadership at the University of California, Berkeley invites applications for a pool of qualified temporary, part-time instructors to teach engineering management topics in the Master of Engineering program (Berkeley MEng) program should an opening arise. Screening of applicants is ongoing and will continue as needed. The number of positions varies from semester to semester, depending on the needs of the institute.
The M.Eng. program offers coursework in technology innovation and management. We hire a number of qualified professionals and academics to hold temporary lecturer appointments to lend variety and subject matter expertise to our core engineering leadership topics:

Position Description: We hire for both Teacher Special Program (TSP) and lecturer positions. TSPs teach short courses consisting of 10-15 contact hours, on one or more topic areas listed above. Most TSP courses are taught in a “Boot Camp” format over 8 to 10 days in August or January. Lecturers teach semester-long or year-long series courses.
Lecturers and TSPs are responsible for the course syllabus: curriculum development and delivery, student assessment through relevant projects, problem sets, tests and/or class attendance and participation, and grades.
Salary is based on highest degree completed, college level teaching experience, and equity within the department.

Basic qualifications: Bachelors or equivalent international degree required by date of application.

Additional qualifications: Experience teaching college or graduate students by the start date of the job. Masters degree or equivalent international degree required by the start date of the job, or industry leadership experience demonstrated by 2 or more years at management or executive level by the start date of the job.

Preferred qualifications: Experience teaching graduate-level business and management topics to engineers.
