Lecturer Position in Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry at the University of California, Berkeley invites applications for a pool of qualified temporary instructors to work as lecturers in lieu of graduate student instructors (GSIs), should an opening arise, and to teach primarily in general and organic chemistry courses and other courses if needed. This includes grading, attending GSI meetings, holding office hours, and assisting with other duties as needed. The pool will remain in place for one year; those interested in remaining in the pool beyond that time must reapply. Screening of applicants begins immediately and will continue as needed; some appointments may begin in summer 2020. The number of positions varies from semester to semester, depending on the needs of the Department. Positions may range from part time to full time. The basic qualification for this position is the completion of all bachelor’s degree, or equivalent international degree, requirements, or have degree candidate status at the time of application. A bachelor’s degree, or equivalent international degree, and authorization to work in the U.S. is required by date of hire. Experience in teaching chemistry is preferred. Salary is commensurate with experience. This position is in a represented bargaining unit.
