Description

We invite applications for a non-tenure-track full-time Research Training Group Postdoctoral Scholar position in the Department of Statistics, at the University of California, Berkeley. The Research Training Group Postdoctoral Scholar position is a non-renewable three-year position. The Research Training Group Postdoctoral Scholar will be expected to engage in teaching and research and participate in seminars and lectures within the department. This is a full-time (100%) position. The expected start date is July 1, 2020.

This position is partially supported by an NSF Research Training Group grant focused on Causality and Interpretability in Machine Learning. Please note that the teaching component of this position is conducted under the lecturer title. The primary research element is funded by the NSF grant in the postdoctoral scholar title and restricted to US citizens and permanent residents.

Basic Qualifications (required by time of application): must have a PhD (or equivalent international degree) or be enrolled in a PhD (or equivalent international degree) program at time of application.

Additional Qualifications (required by start date): PhD or equivalent international degree.

Preferred Qualifications: PhD in Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.

The position has an annual salary of $65,065. UC Post Docs and Lecturers are in a represented bargaining unit.

We will consider strong candidates in any area of theoretical, applied, or computational statistics, with a particular interest in interdisciplinary activities. The Department of Statistics is interested in candidates who will contribute to diversity and equal opportunity in higher education through their teaching or research.
