Assistant and Associate Professor - Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

Recruitment Period

Open September 25th, 2019 through Monday, Dec 9, 2019 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time)

Description

The University of California, Berkeley invites applications for approved tenured and tenure-track positions in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at the Assistant and Associate Professor level. Rank will be determined based on qualifications and experience. The expected start date at the Assistant Professor level is July 1, 2020. The expected start date at the Associate Professor level is January 1, 2021. Joint appointments with department-affiliated institutes and initiatives, or other UC Berkeley departments, will also be considered.

The minimum qualification required to be considered an applicant for the position is a Ph.D. (or equivalent international degree), or enrolled in a Ph.D. or equivalent international degree-granting program at the time of application.

With priority given to overall originality and promise versus sub-area of specialization, preference will be given to applicants interested in creating innovative and far-reaching solutions to important problems in electrical engineering and/or computer science, as well as to applicants whose research, teaching, or service has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in higher education. At the Associate Professor level, there is an emphasis on electrical engineering and areas at the boundary of electrical engineering and computer sciences. The department is committed to addressing the family needs of faculty, including dual career couples and single parents.

Diversity, equity, and inclusion are core values in the College of Engineering. Our excellence can only be fully realized by faculty, students, and staff who share our commitment to these values. Successful candidates for our faculty positions will demonstrate evidence of a commitment to equity and inclusion. Financial and in-kind resources are available to pursue activities that help accelerate our efforts to achieve our equity and inclusion goals, with the full backing of the College. Examples of ongoing programming at the College are available at: engineering.berkeley.edu/diversity. Support for faculty candidates on writing effective statements that demonstrate commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, can be found at: https://ofew.berkeley.edu/recruitment/contributions-diversity/support-faculty-candidates.
