Assistant Specialist – Darzacq Lab – Molecular and Cell Biology-UC Berkeley

The Darzacq Lab probes the mechanisms of transcription regulation used both in vitro and in vivo systems in a multi-pronged approach to the problem of gene regulation.

Responsibilities:
The position will be responsible for:
• Maintaining human primary and immortalized cell lines in culture
• Optimize the preparation of the biological sample (confluence, seeding of the cells)
• Optimize and perform Single Particle tracking experiments on a new cellular system (main tasks)
• Analyze the data generated

Minimum/Basic Qualifications Required (At the time of application):

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent international degree

Additional Required Qualifications (By start date):

• At least one year of work experience in mammalian cell tissues culture

Preferred qualifications (By start date):
• Bachelor’s Degree in Biology or Biophysics
• Experience in microscopy and computer programming
• Ability to work in a collaborative environment

Appointment:
This position reports to Dr. Claire Darzacq. The initial appointment will be at 100% time for one year with the possibility of extension based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding. The approximate start date of this position will be as early as March 2019.

Salary: $49,700 – $51,800 annually, at 100% time, depending on qualifications. This position provides full benefits.
