The Department of Ethnic Studies at the University of California, Berkeley invites applications for a pool of qualified temporary instructors to teach courses in Ethnic Studies, pending openings. These courses include, but are not limited to courses in Chicano Studies, Law and Criminal Justice, Chicano History, Central American Studies, Mexican Immigration, Native Americans and The Cinema, Ethnicity and Race in Contemporary American Films, Chicanos and the Educational System, Contemporary U.S. Immigration, Humanities Methods, The Making of Multicultural America: A Comparative Historical Perspective and Asian American in Film and Video, should an opening arise.

The Department of Gender & Women’s Studies at the University of California, Berkeley, is generating an applicant pool of qualified temporary instructors to teach courses pending openings. These include courses on topics such as: Women in American Cultures, Alternate Sexualities in a Transnational World, Gender and Pop Culture, Global Issues for Women, Sexualities, Gender in American Cultures: "She is not American...or is she?” Gender, Race and Sexuality in American Immigrant Cultures.

The Department of African American Studies at the University of California, Berkeley, is generating an applicant pool of qualified instructors to teach courses in African American Studies, pending openings. These include courses on topics such as: Black expressive culture, with an emphasis on film, music, and performance; Race and institutions; Black politics in the US and the diaspora; Race, technology, and media; Reading and composition; African American literature.

In addition to teaching responsibilities, general duties may include holding office hours, assigning grades, advising students, preparing course materials (e.g. syllabus), writing exams, and managing GSIs.

Screening of applicants is ongoing and will continue as needed. Positions may range from 33% to 67% time, respectively equivalent to one or two courses per semester. The number of positions varies from semester to semester, depending on the needs of the department.

Minimum Basic Qualifications Required (at the time of application):
Minimum qualification required to be considered an applicant for the position is completion of at least a Master’s or equivalent international degree by time of application.

Preferred Qualifications: A PhD or JD and prior teaching experience preferred.

Salary is dependent upon qualifications and years of college-level teaching experience
