The Department of Spanish and Portuguese seeks an applicant pool of qualified part-time temporary instructors to teach a Summer Sessions course on Medical Spanish.

Appointment is dependent upon student enrollment and may be renewable based on need, funding, and performance. Anticipated start date for summer teaching 2018 is June 18, 2018.

Basic qualifications: Master’s Degree (or equivalent degree) in Spanish or a related field by time of application. Candidates should have at least two years of college teaching experience using a communicative language teaching approach.

Additional qualifications: Native or near-native fluency in Spanish and English, demonstrated excellence in teaching, and knowledge of medical terminology and vocabulary terms used in doctor-patient interactions.

Letter of application, updated curriculum vitae, statement of teaching philosophy, three recent teaching evaluations, one original medical Spanish teaching activity, and contact information for three references are required of all applicants; a statement addressing past and/or potential contributions to diversity through research, teaching and/or service is optional. Beginning salary for lecturers is $53,402 (annual rate), but salary setting will be commensurate with education and experience.
