The UC Berkeley Superfund Research Program
(SRP; https://superfund.berkeley.edu/) comprises multiple biomedical and engineering projects that investigate the toxicity and remediation of Superfund chemicals. We have generated a variety of datasets from different sources. To ensure these data are Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable (FAIR), we are creating standardized protocols and associated workflows to meet the needs of each project to upload, store, annotate and preserve current and future SRP datasets and metadata for its long-term use and reuse. The Postdoctoral Scholar will apply novel machine learning, Artificial Intelligence (AI) algorithms and targeted estimation methods to existing SRP data with the guidance of Drs. Martyn Smith and Andres Cardenas. The candidate should have R statistical software experience and expertise in executing and interpreting machine learning algorithms and using epidemiological data. Projects include analyses of existing large scale -omics data such as genome-wide DNA methylation, transcriptomics and epigenetic aging from multiple human cohorts and studies. The candidate will have access to a vibrant research community at UC Berkeley, data science experts, methodologists and join a dynamic team of SRP trainees. The scholar will work in a multidisciplinary collaborative environment.

Responsibilities:

bio-statistics, or environmental health
• Experience using R statistical software
• Experience with epidemiological analyses and application of machine learning,
and artificial intelligence methods
• Previous experience with analyses of large-scale DNA methylation data is
desirable, bioinformatics and using Bioconductor
